Welcome to the Hot Jerusalem Mixture of styles.Elki-Palki (pronounced - yol-kee - pal - kee) is a russian idiom for the diverse emotional expression, close to english "fiddlesticks", literally meaning "pine trees and sticks". Started in 2003 by immigrants from the former Soviet Union the band played irish traditional music, but soon every member contributed to the development of the repertoire from their versatile backgrounds. Nowadays, Elki-Palki continue actively experimenting with sound and musical styles, without neglecting the primary intention - make people dance. The present style of Elki-Palki defies categorization: an explosive mixture of Gypsy and Balkan music (Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian and more), together with Irish and Mediterranean music, as well as elements of rock, jazz, funk, metal and trance music. We call our style Shotnez Beat (Shotnez is the concept in Judaism for the forbidden mixture). The band has played in various festivals in Israel, such as the biggest international Israeli folk-festival, Jacob’s Ladder. It has also been a part of the international Israel Festival in Jerusalem, and the international festival in Acco. The band has played in most clubs throughout Israel. As a live music part of the theater show, the band toured Croatia and Slovenia in 2005 and Poland and Serbia in 2006. In Poland, the performance received a special prize for the best music. Through the years different musicians joined and left among them Alex Livshits on the guitar and Eyal Ben Simon on the drums
